Women and cinema: 10 movies that make you feel good

Dear ladies,

if you're tired, stressed out and just want to have an afternoon or evening to relax and be on your own then do this: Watch a movie that makes you smile and leaves you inspired...

I've compiled a list of feel-good movies here.

The Mistress of Spices (2005)

It is about a young woman who went through a rigorous traning as child in the use of spices and herbs. She emigrated to San Francisco to share her knowledge with people, help them and therefore opens a shop in her new town. Women who have this need to give and rescue people will learn an important lesson in this movie ( I am an over-giver as well and that movie opened my eyes....)

The Muse (2005)

I have written an article on that movie and how much it inspired me. A script writer asks for help and a friend introduces him to a muse...

Pretty Woman (1990)

A classic, but the message is timeless. Both characters come from two different backgrounds and they fall in love with each other. Now how is that going to work and which obstacles do they have to overcome. The scene at the clothes shop is the perfect example how a true lady behaves and her revengeis simply sweet and make the character more likeable...

Bride and Prejudice (2004)

A colourful, cheerful, multicultural adaption of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice set in India, the United Kingdom and the United States. Directed by Gurinder Chadha, this wonderful Bollywood version is a feast for your eyes and soul... Lots of fun and laughter, guaranteed..:-)

Populaire (2012)

A French comedy and beautifully staged which depicts the journey of a young typist who becomes a sensation in her country and has to deal with heartbreak a lot.

Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (2001)

Welcome to the world of Amélie. This is the perfect movie to get in touch with your inner child again. Allow yourself to see the world through the lens of a young woman who hasn't lost her curiosity and sense of wonder in her mundane life.

13 going to 30 (2004)

Jenna Brink is not the popular kid at school. One day after making her wish at her 13th birthday party after a disastrous '7 minutes in heaven', she wakes up and is in the body of her future 30-year-old self. What happenend and where is her best friend Matty?

Legally Blonde (2001)

Barbie meets Abby McBeal in Harvard. After being dumped by her boyfriend, Ellen tries to prove everyone that she isn't into parties and shopping. She is being accepted at Harvard Law School and despite people judging her, she doesn't give up and works hard. Her professor even offers her an internship for a high-profile case

Blancanieves (2012)

This Spanish movie is about Snow White and it is set in 1920s Andalusia. It's a black-and-white film and words can't describe the aesthetics. It's very dramatic, yet heart-warming at the same time because the viewers witness Blancanieves journey as a little girl and how she grows into our beloved, beautiful Snow White.

Penelope (2006)

This is another fairytale movie and that Penelope Willhern has to accept and learn to love herself to break the curse. The fashion and the scenography are breathtaking because they inspire to create your own clothes if you have a sewing machine at hand.

Enjoy watching the movies and let me know in your comments what your experience was...

Much love,

Natascha
